TOUR DE FRANCE 2018:1st ROUTE
Tour de France 2018 : Route 1
The 1st stage of the Tour de France 2018 starts on Île de Noirmoutier, a small island off the Atlantic coast of France. The riders cross the bridge to the mainland for an arrival in Fontenay-le-Comte. We should expect a fast finisher to be the first man in yellow, although echelons are a potential risk. Much of the route follows the twisting Vendée coastline, so cross winds could be lurking during the entire day.
Stage 1 from Noirmoutier-en-l’Ile to Fontenay-le-Comte does exclude the Passage du Gois but rather includes 100km along the French drift and turning paths before the wrap up. In 2015 BMC beat Team Sky by a solitary second to win the group time trial. Any greater time holes in the 35km around Cholet in 2018 could truly influence a few riders’ general possibilities.
